Exercises and role-plays let everyone experience the clarity\, consideration and flow that sociocracy brings. 1/3 of the time will be on presentations\, 1/3 on practical exercises and 1/3 on reflection and Q&A. \nTopics\n\nDeciding together so no one is ignored (consent)\nOrganizational structure\nBeing intentional about who does what: sociocratic open elections\nLearning and feedback: how we can improve what we do and how we do it\n\nLevel\nEntry: This class is most appropriate for people who have an idea of what sociocracy is but not much more\, for example after attending a webinar\, or seeing a video (like our 4 min video or our 19 min video). DESCRIPTION:Commoning is an ancient but newly rediscovered social paradigm of provisioning and governance that arises whenever a group of people seek to steward shared wealth in participatory\, fair-minded\,sustainable ways. Operating independently of state power and capitalist markets\, commons can be seen in open-source peer production and Wikipedia\, cohousing and cooperatives\, community land trusts and CSA farming\, alternative currencies and timebanking\, among many other realms. This session will explore the broad scope of commoning today\, its inner logic and dynamics\, its role in addressing climate change\, inequality\, and authoritarian culture\, and necessary strategies for expanding the Commonsverse. After David’s presentation\, Jerry Koch-Gonzalez will discuss with David the synergy between commoning and sociocracy.
