DESCRIPTION:Description\n\n\n\nAre you interested in sociocracy but in a small organization … where maybe it’s not worth to work with so much structure? \n\n\n\nThis class is perfect if you: \n\n\n\n if you’re in a unit or organization with 5-10 people\, and \n\n\n\n not planning to grow any time soon (i.e. not a start up) \n\n\n\n You like to keep some things informal\, while also adding a bit more structure and clarity.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTopics\n\n\n\n What parts of sociocracy are useful for a small organization? \n\n\n\n What parts of more informal systems are worth keeping?  \n\n\n\n Where is more structure needed? \n\n\n\n What can we\, and what do we need to do as a next step?  \n\n\n\n\n\nIn these 4 hours we will: \n\n\n\n\nAnalyse what is working for your current system right now – and what isn’t?\n\n\n\nHabits that support coherence and flow\n\n\n\nWhat requires a group decision\, what doesn’t?\n\n\n\nClarity\, structure and roles – what do we need? SUMMARY:Group coaching: What’s the next step for me/us and sociocracy?
DESCRIPTION:Are you unsure how to go about learning more about sociocracy? How about moving forward in your organization? What are the options for getting deeper\, getting practice\, motivating your team to learn or use more sociocracy? Do you want someone to strategize with you?  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis webinar is a 60min session where we will have 3 people ready to answer your questions. We will be in 3 rooms on 3 topic areas: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Room 1 \n\n\n\n Individual learning – How can I learn more? How can I become a better facilitator or practitioner of sociocracy?\n\n\n\nThis makes the most sense if you already have some exposure to sociocracy (not complete beginners). \n\n\n\nWith Ted Rau \n\n\n\n\n\n Room 2 \n\n\n\nGroup learning – How can my team get trained? What are easy ways to get my team on board? \n\n\n\nThis makes sense if you have a group that is wanting to learn with you. \n\n\n\nWith Zujeil Flores \n\n\n\n\n\n Room 3 \n\n\n\nOrganizational implementation – How can I prepare an implementation in my organization? Who should I talk to? How should I go about it?  \n\n\n\nThis makes sense if you know about sociocracy and you’re in an organization that isn’t sociocratic but could be.  \n\n\n\nWith Jerry Koch-Gonzalez \n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou will be able to submit your questions so come prepared! You will be able to switch between groups but it might be best to decide which group to attend. All breakouts will be recorded and you will receive a summary after the webinar.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent date and time\n\n\n\nThis webinar will meet on Tuesday\, June 10 at 10-11am EDT / 7-8pm PT \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n$0 – $10 – This webinar is free\, however you may choose to make a donation to help us carry our mission forward. \n\n\n\n\nGet your ticket

SUMMARY:Living Into Our Values
DESCRIPTION:A common story: mission-driven organizations that write beautiful words on their website. But under the hood and behind closed doors\, it’s the same old same old power dynamics. It’s disheartening to see how many organizations struggle to be the organization they want to be – despite best intentions. The missing link is often the lack of a governance system that creates conditions where a positive culture can evolve and thrive.  \n\n\n\n\nInstead of unacknowledged power-over or apathy\, find clarity. \n\n\n\nInstead of pretty words and analysis paralysis\, find action. \n\n\n\nInstead of saying “we’re inclusive and we care”\, implement the structures that support it. \n\n\n\n\nMany of those aspects can be addressed by the governance system sociocracy. We will show why awareness-based approaches and good intentions alone can’t address a lack of integrity\, and what practices and tools actually work – not for being perfect but closer to who we want to be.  \n\n\n\n\n\nThis webinar is part of our Leading Together with Sociocracy webinar series for non-profits\, small biz\, activists\, and communities. SUMMARY:Founder Dynamics - Free
DESCRIPTION:Some founders have a really hard time sharing power. Being a founder requires a certain skill set of being a passionate generalist who can get things done – a slightly different skill set than building a sustainable organization to carry the mission.  \n\n\n\nAs these groups around a founder grow into organizations\, there is a classic trap that evolves:  \n\n\n\nFounders feel very responsible because\, of course!\, they care about the organization\, they often hold the intellectual property or expertise\, as well as relationships. Others want to contribute to the mission but soon notice that all paths in the organization seem to lead back to the founder. For everyone else in the organization (self-starters or just people who want to do their work well)\, that can be a maddening experience.  \n\n\n\nThey might even be aware of the disproportionate power they hold.  \n\n\n\nThose patterns are hard to break – frustrating everyone else and depriving the organization of broader input.  \n\n\n\nFor founders\, it can be dramatic – being a bottleneck is not healthy and can easily lead to burnout.  \n\n\n\nThis free webinar will show how to get out of the trap – if people are ready.  \n\n\n\n\nWe will talk about people end up in the trap\n\n\n\nUnderstandable and well-intentioned actions that just tighten the trap.\n\n\n\nWhat works?\n\n\n\nNext steps you can take as a founder or member\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nThis webinar is part of our Leading Together with Sociocracy webinar series for non-profits\, small biz\, activists\, and communities. SUMMARY:Sociocracy workshop in Amherst
DESCRIPTION:In-person beginner + advanced workshop \n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n\nSociocracy gives structure to how to collaborate together toward a shared vision. This workshop is a great introduction to the participative decision-making structure for the 21st century! \n\n\n\nSociocracy is the groundbreaking decision-making method transforming how organizations collaborate and function. In this all-day event\, we will delve into the principles and practices of sociocracy\, equipping you with the knowledge and skills to revolutionize decision-making within your team. \n\n\n\nSociocracy is a transformative approach that empowers individuals and groups to make better decisions\, enhance communication\, and foster a sense of ownership and accountability. Attending this workshop will give you valuable insights into the core principles that underpin sociocracy. Discover its potential to revolutionize your community and group dynamics. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe offer two parallel tracks: one for beginners and one for more advanced learners: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBeginner track\n\n\n\nThis track is best for people who have very little experience with sociocracy. \n\n\n\nAn overview of the most important parts of sociocracy: \n\n\n\n\nOne of the fundamental aspects of sociocracy is consent decision-making. Unlike traditional methods that rely on majority votes or top-down authority\, sociocracy ensures that every voice is heard and considered. Through a series of engaging activities and discussions\, you will learn how to facilitate consent decision-making processes.\n\n\n\nAnother key principle of sociocracy is decentralized power. By distributing authority and responsibility throughout the organization\, sociocracy fosters a sense of autonomy and ownership among team members. You will explore practical strategies for implementing decentralized power structures\, enabling your team to operate with increased effectiveness\, resilience\, and creativity.\n\n\n\nSociocracy also offers techniques for improving meetings. Say goodbye to long\, unproductive meetings that drain your team’s energy and time. We will show the meeting format that you can use for effective and inclusive meetings.\n\n\n\n\nBy the end of this workshop\, you will walk away with a solid understanding of how sociocracy works in a community and what its benefits are. \n\n\n\nThis track will be taught by Jerry Koch-Gonzalez. \n\n\n\n\n\nAdvanced track\n\n\n\nThis track requires basic familiarity with sociocracy: structure\, meeting format and consent process ready to practice. \n\n\n\nWe will focus on the facilitation of difficult situations – with objections\, emotional situations or difficult processes. \n\n\n\n\nObjections – what can we do in the case of an objection? What steps do we take and what options do we have? \n\n\n\nWhat if the meeting steers off track\, when people criticize my facilitation or the agenda? What if we don’t even agree on what we should talk about?\n\n\n\nHow can we plan agendas that make meetings smooth and productive? \n\n\n\nHow can we draft a proposal together so all perspectives are heard and considered from the get-go? \n\n\n\n\nWe will work with lots of demos\, small-group exercises with direct support and reflection. The main topics will be: \n\n\n\n\nObjections\n\n\n\nAgendas\n\n\n\nPicture forming and proposal shaping\n\n\n\n\nThis track will be taught by Ted Rau. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe invite you to bring a home lunch; we will provide snacks. After the workshops\, we hope you can stick around for social networking time. \n\n\n\nSchedule\n\n\n\n\n8:45 am: Gather \n\n\n\n9:00 am: Beginner track and Advanced track begin\n\n\n\n1:00 pm: Bring your own lunch and eat together (optional)\n\n\n\n2:00 pm: Walk the grounds of Chery Hill Cohousing (optional)\n\n\n\n\n\nI learned a lot and have a great understanding of the Sociocracy process after the beginners’ class. It was engaging and enjoyable. I appreciate the opportunity to work with folks from many backgrounds through the class exercises.. I am looking forward to continuing my sociocracy education and implementing it in my groups! \nTami Gingrow\, Fayette County\, Pennsylvania\n\n\n\nTrainers\n\n\n\nOur sociocracy basic methods classes are taught by certified sociocracy trainers. \n\n\n\nTed Rau\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTed is an advocate\, trainer and consultant for self-governance. I’m a climate scientist who has found herself doing more and more work in transdisciplinary collaborations across institutions and countries. These funded and unfunded collaborations range from 3 to 50 people spanning 3-7 years. On a personal level\, I live with my polycule family of 6 where we’ve collectively managed our household resources since 2018\, in the past I’ve lived in a residential co-op for several years. I was first drawn to sociocracy because I wanted to run good meetings with people I care deeply about and respect; I’ve stayed because the decisions we make together are richer and (frankly) more fun than going it alone! \n\n\n\n\n\nDuration and time zone\n\n\n\nThis event is TWO 3-hour sessions\, one on Sept 7 and one on Sept 21. SUMMARY:Nonviolent Communication (3x2h)
DESCRIPTION:Introduction class \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this class\n\n\n\nThis is a 3-session introduction class to compassionate communication (Nonviolent Communication\, NVC). It covers basic concepts with many examples. All sessions are participatory with time for questions and answers. \n\n\n\nNVC meshes beautifully with sociocracy because it allows us to listen well\, make ourselves understood on a deeper level\, and explore together how we can co-create solutions that work for everyone. \n\n\n\nThe classes will be taught by Jerry Koch-Gonzalez\, co-founder and staff member of Sociocracy For All and certified NVC trainer.
