SUMMARY:Operations and policy in sociocracy
DESCRIPTION:Understanding the difference between operations and policy is key to making fast and good decisions. The idea in sociocracy is to empower operational decisions (so they can be made by anyone who is authorized) and to make policy decisions to guide and improve those operational decisions. However\, the line between operations and policy can blur which makes it harder to make pragmatic decisions. \nPolicy decisions are made by consent while operational decisions are often made alone – and with feedback if appropriate. \nLet’s look at the whole topic and get clear so we can be fast\, or slow and considerate\, depending on what the situation calls for. \nTaught by Ted Rau

SUMMARY:Sociocratic governance agreements
DESCRIPTION:Every formal implementation requires a governance agreement document – a description of the governance method in their context. Oftentimes\, it’s the approval of this document that constitutes the formal adoption of sociocracy. We have several sample governance agreements that groups can take and adopt. \nIn this workshop\, we will walk you through the sample governance agreement for a cohousing community (which\, for the most part\, will apply to many other contexts as well). You can ask questions along the way! We hope that many can go adapt their documents after this webinar. \nWorkshop presenter and SoFA team member Jerry Koch-Gonzalez was part of the author team of several sociocratic communities revising this document.\nNote: there some overlap but a difference between governance agreements and by-laws. Governance agreements tend to be an internal document\, like the constitution of the organization. \nThis event will be at 9am Pacific time\, 12 Eastern time\, 17 UK time\, 18 Paris or Berlin. See event time in all time zones
