SUMMARY:How SoFA uses sociocracy
DESCRIPTION:Sociocracy for all is using sociocracy too! We’re incorporated as a nonprofit in the USA but operating globally. \n\nWe are a membership organization with 190 members worldwide. Ca. 25 people are in paid roles (part time or full time)\, and everyone volunteers. We have organizations that are members too.\nWe are a multi-lingual nonprofit with departments/circles in Spanish\, Portuguese\, French\, Italian\, German\, Hebrew\, Chinese\, Scandinavia.\nOur operations: We both produce content and resources\, and we network (around language communities and about sector interest). We are acting as a platform connecting practitioners with peers\, sociocracy professionals with other professionals\, and sociocracy trainers with their audience.\nWe care about social justice\, affordability\, and equality.\n\nSoFA is using a few refinements on sociocracy that make it possible to grow fast and serve our mission of making sociocracy accessible. The most interesting refinements we use on a daily basis are: \n\nA clear distinction between circles vs. communities of practices. This matters to organizations that have a lot of grassroots and community involvement that’s mostly separate from key operations.\nMulti-sector\, multi-language operations; we use a Help Desk framework that helps circles support each other and build “cross-connections” based on agreements and service relationships.\nOrganizations that want to strictly decentralize decisions.\n\nIn this workshop\, operational leader Ted Rau will show SoFA’s structure\, explain how SoFA operates\, and answer questions to help transfer these principles to similar use cases. \nThe ticket price can be waived by request. You want to be the person who brings loving clarity to the group work while actively inviting all voices in. Your vision is that everyone feels safe\, heard\, held\, and empowered in your meetings. \nThis class is geared towards people who have already done our facilitation training (or a comparable experience level) and want to improve their facilitation dramatically. SUMMARY:Conflict resolution in circles
DESCRIPTION:Sociocracy works best when all minds and hearts are open – but that’s not always the case. When there is conflict\, our ability to listen and problem-solve is diminished.  \nIn this webinar\, we will review all the ways in which sociocracy can support conflict resolution\, and how it can be combined with other\, related tools to transform conflict into an opportunity to connect and learn more about each other. \nOf course\, interpersonal conflict is always at the heart of conflicts! But in this webinar\, we’ll focus on conflict in circles and organizations and what circles and organizations can do to prevent and address conflict. An organization can’t mandate how people think or when to go see a therapist\, but it can create an ecosystem of listen and care\, a support network for conflict resolution\, and accountability measures to make sure organizations can sustain the maintenance and care of their processes and their people. This class is for you!  \nIn this workshop\, we will provide an overview of the basic concepts of sociocracy: how we make decisions\, how we empower and connect teams and we can improve continuously over time. Exercises and role-plays let everyone experience the clarity\, consideration and flow that sociocracy brings.  \nTopics: \n\nDeciding together so no one is ignored (consent)\nOrganizational structure and linking\nBeing intentional about who does what: sociocratic open elections\nLearning and feedback: how we can improve what we do and how we do it\n\n  \nLevel\nEntry: This class is most appropriate for people who have an idea of what sociocracy is but not much more\, for example after attending a webinar\, or seeing a video (like our 4 min video or our 19 min video).
