? This is an English presentation for the Sociocracy in Cooperatives Conference on June 23rd, 2022.

Description

A short presentation on how our Cohousing cooperative started out and how we have introduced Sociocracy, the questions we have, and how it has supported the development of our cooperative. We will present the findings of a short survey we carried out with our members on how they experienced being introduced to sociocracy. Our housing project can be seen in the context of a post conflict society, where social housing has become sectarianised, and so we are committed to a diverse and inclusive community, where issues of justice and equality are important. We are currently articulating our governance structures, with a management circle and smaller circles; and have made a commitment to decision making by consent. We are keen to learn from others attending this workshop and would invite participants to contribute their initial impressions of sociocracy and how the practice has supported the growth of cooperatives, particularly housing cooperatives.
